Diary and Notes
Phew, what a scorcher! For those of you not from this part of the world you'd probably think it was a chilly winter's day, but to us this is the height of summer - the sun is shining, the sky is blue, there's ne'er a Scotsman, to spoil the view.
So no ranting and raving at the stupidity of mankind today, for today it's too lovely a day and when the sun shines all seems right with the world, plus I've just had a fantastic dinner cooked by my good friend Jacinta, and what a gastranomic triumph it was.
I never cook food like this and that's possibly a shame. What with the lovely summer weather, something simple, fresh and tasty is just the order of the day. If I was cooking, you just know there would be about three or four different spices, some garlic, a sauce, everything would be stewed for hours etc and I don't doubt it would have been tasty but today's meal really captured the joys of summer. Fresh asparagus, some lovely watercress, a dressing made from watercress, spring onion and yoghurt and some tasty new potatoes as well.
So no ranting today, just a picture of my dinner and a smile.
Isn't that just about the best I can do anyway?
