As it's the holidays, I thought it might be a good idea to take some time and get the kids to help with the cooking a bit. First thing in the morning I asked them what they fancied cooking and Isis jumped in quickly with "Pizza." At this Eve started dancing around singing "Pizza, pizza, pizza." I joined in by sticking some pillows up my t-shirt and singing, in a very bad Pavarotti impersonation "Pizza, pasta, pizza, pasta, pizza, pizza, pizza, Oh, pizza, pasta, pizza, pasta, pizza, pizza pizza."
So pizza it was to be, but as my song had included pasta too, I thought we'd have some of this as well.
After the kids were dressed we made some pizza dough and left this to rise. For the rest of the day we did some painting, went to the park, read some stories and generally argued and fought. After some good arguing and fighting, Isis and Eve helped me make the pizzas - Isis turning out to be a bit of a star at rolling them out.
Today's dinner was a particularly well mannered affair from the girls. I'm not sure if getting them to help made the difference, but I don't think it made anything worse. They also seem to be fired up about helping tomorrow. If it keeps up like this, I'll be able to hand over the kitchen in a year or two and go down the pub.
Note: The pasta was really easy; a little olive oil, mild red chilli and garlic warmed through, then cooked penne tossed in with black pepper, lemon juice and parmesan cheese. Pizza I've made before - if you want my recipe it's here.
